Chakalaka Contemporary Art, an extension of Chakalaka Films, represents and supports visual artists who explore the boundaries between contemporary art and cinema. Our goal is to amplify their voices by creating new platforms for visibility, diffusion, and fostering meaningful dialogues within the art world.

The Gold Projections

The Gold Projections are Joe Ramirez’s patented process for projecting images onto a gilded, circular wooden panel gently curved by his hand. The pieces lend a sculptural quality to moving images; the approach creates a mysterious, reminiscent experience for the spectator.

"I leave it to you whether you want to call this a process of unconsciousness, or of dreaming, or of imagination; whether you think it is related more to painting, or more to photography, or to cinematography, whether it is utterly complex or of the purest simplicity. All I know is: there's nothing like it."
Wim Wenders, A Logic of Dreams

The Writing of Appearances

The Writing of Appearances is a photographic and audiovisual exhibition project that questions the limits of the visible, through a poetic journey in the ancestral lands of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It leads to the most important archaeological discovery of the last century in Colombia: Buritaca 200, Teyuna, better known as The Lost City.
